Something to try sometime when you get a chance is to get a pint of the cheapest auto paint you can find, even primer works well. You can always rehydrate them with regular mineral spirits etc. You won't leave a mark.Īnd as I said before, rattlecan paints don't 'cure' they dehydrate. Go to a car that has been painted basecoat/clearcoat and try the same thing. It will leave some sort of mark and you will be able to tell, especially if you have multiple upon multiple coats. Go out to a car that has been rattlecanned and stick your thumbnail into the paint. but it will never be regular auto clear hard. Yes, buffing will help get it smooth etc.
